President (E) Rodríguez held a meeting with authorities in Portugal to strengthen humanitarian assistance

This Thursday, July 9th, the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, held a meeting with the Secretary of State of Portugal, Emidio Sousa Tras, with the objective of advancing humanitarian assistance to care for families affected after the earthquakes of last June 24.

During the meeting, Rodríguez expressed his gratitude to Portugal for its support and solidarity with Venezuela at this time when the country is going through the onslaught of a natural catastrophe.

In addition, the authorities of both nations agreed to continue working together on recovery efforts in the affected areas, with special attention to the Portuguese-Venezuelan communities that were impacted by the earthquake.

In the same way, the authorities of Portugal stated that they will remain attentive to the evolution of the situation in Venezuela, reaffirming their commitment to provide the necessary support in coordination with the Venezuelan authorities, international organizations and partners in the field.

Also participating in this working day, as part of the Portuguese delegation, were the Portuguese ambassador to Venezuela, Manuel Pinheiro da Silva; the advisor to the Secretary of State of Portugal, Raquel Bastos; third secretary of the Portuguese embassy in Venezuela, Nuno Abreu.

Also present in Venezuela were the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil; and the Deputy Minister for Europe and North America, Oliver Blanco.

These actions are part of strengthening the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between Venezuela and Portugal. In addition, it should be noted that the European country has deployed a contingent of 64 search, rescue and emergency medical care specialists to provide support in areas affected by earthquakes.
