The Attorney General of the Republic, Larry Devoe, reported this Friday, September 18, that he held a meeting with a delegation from Human Rights Watch (HRW) in which they addressed the human rights situation and the role of the Public Ministry in this area.

Through his social media accounts, the official explained that the HRW delegation is led by Federico Borello, Deputy Executive Director, and Juanita Goebertus, Director for the Americas.

At the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Public Ministry in Caracas, the parties discussed the National Consultation process on Criminal Justice Reform, about which he indicated that “I invited them to present their contributions to this initiative, which seeks to advance structural transformations in the country's criminal justice system.”

He commented that it was agreed to establish and maintain a continuous communication mechanism in order to receive and provide a timely response to his approaches to justice and human rights.
