The delegation of the United Socialist Party
of Venezuela (PSUV) participated in ManiFesta, an international meeting
organized by the Workers' Party of Belgium (PTB), which brought together
political organizations and left-wing movements from different countries on September 11, 12 and 13 in the city of Ostende.
According to information from the PSUV, the Venezuelan
representation consisted of the deputy and member of the National
Directorate of the PSUV, Jehyson Guzmán, and Richard Benavides, member of the Secretariat of International Affairs of
the political organization.
During the day, they participated in
debates, forums and presentations on the geopolitical situation, the challenges of the international
scene and the Venezuelan reality.
As part of the agenda developed in
Belgium, the representatives of the PSUV attended a meeting organized by the Latin American
Coordinator of Belgian Solidarity, held in the
vicinity of the Free University of Brussels, on the occasion of the 53rd
anniversary of the coup against Chilean President Salvador Allende.
In addition, Guzmán and Benavides held
a bilateral meeting with Bert De Belder, Secretary of
International Relations of the PTB, in which they exchanged views on the international political context and the situation in Venezuela.
The agenda also included a meeting with
Jeremy Corbyn, a member of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, with whom
they spoke about the challenges of progressive and left-wing movements in
Europe and on an international scale.
During the meeting, Corbyn reaffirmed his
commitment to Venezuela, to the resistance of the Venezuelan people and to the
freedom of President Nicolás Maduro and the first lady and deputy Cilia Flores.
The participation of the PSUV in ManiFesta made it possible to strengthen ties with political organizations and progressive movements from different regions of the world, reaffirming the internationalist vocation of the Party and its willingness to continue articulating efforts in defense of the sovereignty of Venezuela, peace, the self-determination of peoples and the construction of a multipolar world free of imperial hegemony.
