Rector of the UCV ruled out structural damage in Ciudad Universitaria after double earthquake

The rector of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), Víctor Rago, ruled out serious or irreparable damage to the University City of Caracas after the double earthquake of June 24.

In this regard, Rago stressed that the institution has been active since the first days of the emergency with a wide deployment of humanitarian and logistical assistance.

In addition, according to a note from the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), he highlighted the mobilization of medical, firefighters and specialized personnel to the affected areas. “The university has tried to contribute right from the start. First, at the initiative of the students, a large collection center was set up and attended in solidarity by a multitude of citizens,” he said.

He also specified that, after the double earthquake, brigades from the UCV moved to La Guaira, El Junquito, Guarenas and various locations in the state of Aragua, including Turmero, through the work carried out by the fire department of the Maracay campus.
