Russia: Only the United States opposes a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza

The permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations (UN), Vasili Nebenzia, asserted that the United States is the only State in the international community that opposes a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

“It would not be an exaggeration to say that there is a consensus in the world on the need for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and the only State that opposes it, confronting the entire international community, is the United States,” Nebenzia told the UN Security Council on Tuesday.

For his part, his Chinese counterpart, Zhang Jun, indicated that the Asian giant proposes to convene a larger-scale international peace conference that seeks to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through a two-state solution.

“China calls for an international peace conference that is of greater scale, scope and effects, and the formulation of a schedule and a road map so that the two-state solution can truly be realized,” Zhang told the UN Security Council.

As published by the Sputnik web portal, the Chinese ambassador stressed that any solution must respect the will of the Palestinian people, take into account the concerns of the countries of the region and not deviate from the two-state solution.
