School enrollment in Mérida exceeds 160,000 students

A total of 161,545 students make up the school enrollment for the 2026-2027 academic year in the state of Mérida, said the governor, Arnaldo Sánchez.

“Activities have been opened in 1,311 educational institutions, with 161,545 enrolled students,” said the state president during the delivery of the recovered facilities of the José Escolastico Duque High School in the municipality of Campo Elías.

Governor Sánchez, in statements collected by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), congratulated the willingness and activation of teachers and education workers to start activities on all campuses.

The authority highlighted that, in the case of the Duque School School, the ceilings, classrooms, kitchen, dining room, corridors and outdoor spaces were restored, as well as the provision of tables, chairs, blackboards and tools for 258 children and young people from the La Ranchería, Adelmo Gutiérrez and El Moral sectors, in the Matriz parish.

The state has 23 restored campuses for the school year. Work will continue for around 20 more, the governor said.
