Although it is common during winter, especially in December and January, alarms went off in Spain due to the scourge of influenza A and other respiratory infections, because several reports revealed that emergency services collapsed in cities such as Bilbao and Madrid, with 35 percent more than a year ago and the forecast rising in the first month of 2024.

Just three days of truce, with rain and fog, will give rise to new intense days of glacial temperatures in the Iberian country, where health authorities warned of the spread of infections.

Although COVID-19 has been trending since the 2020 pandemic, influenza A reappeared to gain momentum in the final days of last year. In this sense, specialists speak of the concept of 'tripledemia', because cases of respiratory infections such as influenza, COVID and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cause bronchiolitis.
