The US calls Russia an enemy and Lavrov responds: “we are prepared for any development of events”

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, said this Thursday that the Government of President Vladimir Putin is prepared for “any development of events” after the United States (USA) described the Eurasian country as its enemy.

Quoted on the RT website, the Russian foreign minister noted that his country focuses on developing its relations with “the world majority and not with the countries that publicly declared their adversary to us”.

Lavrov referred to the statements of the US Secretary of Defense, who called Russia an enemy. “If so, we are prepared for any development of events; several times they tried to conquer us, to subordinate us,” he said during an interview with the TV presenter and general director of the media group Rossiya Segodnya, Dmitri Kiseliov.

He indicated that the task of Russian diplomacy for 2024 is to “ensure the objective perception of Russia abroad (...) In the conditions of the special military operation, in the conditions of our confrontation with the West, even on the economic front, on the sanctions front, the objective explanation of our actions takes on special importance,” he stressed.
