Valencia City Hall began rehabilitation of drains affected by earthquakes in 48 Community Circuits

The Cayapa “Zero Botes” Plan plans to rehabilitate the underground sewerage network of the 48 communal circuits in the municipality of Valencia, Carabobo state, currently on an uneven slope as a result of the earthquakes of last June 24.

In this regard, Mayor Dina Castillo explained that technical soil studies revealed that the earthquake caused failures in the channeling of wastewater, causing a movement in manholes, pipes and sewers, a situation that generated the accumulation of wastewater and rain associated with the passage of recent tropical waves through the region.

During the launch of the plan, the municipal president said that the initiative will also make it possible to eradicate the wastewater overflows registered in recent weeks in different communities of the municipality.

Castillo reported that the Mayor's Office deployed a fleet of Vacuum trucks and more than 100 workers, who immediately began maneuvers to adapt and level pipes at the critical points detected to date.

“They also have an endowment of 1,400 meters of 8 and 12 inch pipes, in addition to all the vacuum equipment, excavators, ready to attack this service that our city so deserves,” he said.

He also stressed that the cayapa plan will be supervised from the Situational Room of the Directorate of Services and Public Works, together with the Government Rooms and Hydrocenter, in order to guarantee real-time responses during the development of these works.
