Venezuela awarded rescuers from Peru and Ecuador for rescue work in La Guaira

The Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, together with the Minister of Defense, G/J Gustavo González López, decorated the delegations of Ecuador and Peru in recognition of their rescue work after the earthquakes of last June 24.
During the event, the “Hero of Venezuela” medal was awarded to the heads of delegation, Brigadier Major Claudio Marcelo Sainz (Peru) and Major Jorge Luis Montanero (Ecuador), highlighting their fundamental role in search and medical care in the state of La Guaira, the Foreign Ministry reported.
“More than 200 years ago, our peoples fought as one; today, you represent that same spirit, as you are at the forefront of this battle for hope and reconstruction,” said the diplomat.
He also thanked, on behalf of the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, for the solidarity of these countries and highlighted the historic importance of cooperation between these sister nations.
This recognition was extended to canine heroes from both countries Caira, for Peru; and Ragnar and Vigo, for Ecuador.
