The national wushu delegation closed its participation in the XV Pan-American Championship, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a balance of six gold, four silver and six bronze medals for a total of 16 medals.

The result placed the country in eighth place among 17 participating nations, with the United States leading the overall ranking with 397 medals, followed by Brazil, with 114, and Argentina, with 132.

Criollas Dayerlin Pimentel and Manuel Palacios topped the golden harvest with two titles each in the Taolu modalities.

Pimentel excelled in the Shaolin races, while the man from Caracas won two gold medals: one in Changquan and the other in Gunshu, both in Taolu Deportivo.

They were joined by Kathiuska Ledezma, Sanda champion in the 52-kilogram category, and Yosmairy Lara, gold winner in the 60 kg of the same combat modality.

On the second step of the podium, Camila Semestrari, Valeria Dudamel, Oriana Moreno and José Montaño stood out, each contributing a silver medal.

Semestrari, Dudamel and Moreno won their medals in Taolu, while Montaño took second place in Sanda, the 75-kilogram category.

Dudamel added his silver in Gunshu, the baton test, among 13 competitors. Moreno won the runner-up in Nanquan, an empty-handed mode in the south, in a race with six participants.

The bronze harvest was divided among five athletes. Reinaldo Palmar won two medals in traditional youth Taolu, while Camila Semestrari, Valeria Dudamel and Oriana Moreno each won one medal in their respective events.

For his part, Yancarlys Parra completed the group of medalists with bronze in Sanda, the 56-kilogram category.

Dudamel achieved third place in Daoshu, a sabre test with ten competitors, while Moreno took the podium in Nangun, a southern walking club that brought together eight athletes.
