The Venezuelan chess delegation at the XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026 won silver and bronze medals.

Science sports participate in Santa Fe 2026 as a guest sport and was among the most outstanding in Clara Peña, winning a silver medal in the fast race and a bronze medal in the blitz.

In the debut of electronic sports in the history of the South American Games, Venezuela was represented by Jorge Juárez, who advanced to the quarterfinals at EA Sports FC.

Juárez began his career with authority against Colombian Luis Castellanos, whom he defeated by 5-2, and once again demonstrated his good timing in his second match, winning 9-7 against Uruguayan Rey Martín.

In their third match, they yielded 6-5 against Peru's Luis Suárez and then fell 5-0 to Chile's Claudio Olhaberry.

The Venezuelan closed his debut with a balance of two and two, which allowed him to advance to the quarterfinals, keeping intact the possibility of fighting for medals.

“I am the first of my discipline in the history of my country to compete on an Olympic circuit, having it integrated for these South American Games is exciting, we work hard to achieve that,” Juárez added.

Juárez's next challenge will be this Monday, September 14, when he meets Guyanese Dearon Canterbury, starting at 2:00 in the afternoon (Venezuela time), in search of a place among the four best in the competition.
