Venezuelan engineers received training in “Non-Destructive Testing” for safe evaluation of structures with the IAEA

The engineers of the Venezuelan Scientific and Technological Pole and members of the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Infrastructure Habitability received training on advanced Non-Destructive Testing (END) techniques to advance the strategic recovery of infrastructure affected by the double earthquake of last June 24.

This was reported by the Minister of Science and Technology, Yván Gil, who stressed that the training was carried out by experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

“END techniques value the integrity, properties and defects of materials without altering or damaging their functionality or physico-chemical properties, reaffirming the peaceful use of nuclear technology and ionizing radiation as fundamental pillars for the analysis of critical structures,” Gil said through his Telegram channel.

In the same message, the minister highlighted the application of the principles of nuclear physics to put them at the service of risk prevention, technical sovereignty and the protection of Venezuelan communities after seismic events.
