With 186 explosions, the Sangay Volcano released incandescent material in Ecuador

The Geophysical Institute (IG) of Ecuador reported that the Sangay volcano recorded 186 explosions, and released incandescent material that descended across the southeastern flank to a thousand meters below the summit.

In the last 24 hours, the volcano has generated an average of 7.75 explosions every hour, and incandescence has been observed in the crater area , reports the Prensa Latina portal, citing the agency.

With a height of 5,230 meters above sea level, Sangay is one of the most active volcanoes in Ecuador. Since 2018, it has been erupting with noise and ash emissions that move to coastal provinces, mainly Guayas and Los Ríos.
