The 21st Venezuelan International Book Fair (FILVEN) opened this Thursday, March 12, in the historic center of Barcelona, in the state of Anzoátegui, where you can purchase new publications and enjoy book presentations, recitals, conferences and the staging of different artistic events.

The event was led by the entity's Single Cultural Authority, Jesús Fermín, together with the honored regional writer Aquiles Silva and Lidimar Machiques, representative of the Venezuelan Anti-Blockade Observatory.

During the opening, Fermín highlighted the promotion of culture as a fundamental policy of the Bolivarian Government, with an emphasis on the promotion of books, reading and critical thinking. In addition, he reported that the fair not only offers an extensive literary exhibition in the center of Barcelona, but also carries out activities in all the municipalities of the state, in coordination with the departments of Culture of the mayors and the Great Mission Viva Venezuela.

For his part, Lidimar Machiques presented the editorial line of the Venezuelan Anti-Blockade Observatory and emphasized that his publications seek to show the advances of the Bolivarian Revolution and the resistance of the Venezuelan people to unilateral coercive measures.

In this edition, the fair pays tribute to the writer Aquiles José Silva, poet, playwright and cultural promoter born in Valle Guanape, whose work focuses on oral tradition and social commitment.

FILVEN Anzoátegui also honors the writers Judith Valencia, Esteban Emilio Mosonyi, Marc de Civrieux, Gonzalo Fragui and Juan Calzadilla at the national level, and presents a wide range of publications such as The Dog and the Frog, Monte Ávila Editores Latinoamericana and Biblioteca Ayacucho, as well as reading mediation activities aimed at children and young people. The fair will remain open until Saturday 14th.
