Through its account on the social network Instagram, the National Book Center (CENAL) reported that the 21st edition of the Venezuelan International Book Fair (FILVEN) will begin its national tour of Guayana Esequiba from September 18 to 20, with headquarters in Tumremo, the administrative capital of the territorial entity.

He noted that the decision was agreed at a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Development for the Cultural Economy and president of CENAL, Raúl Cazal, and the Secretary of Government of the Guayana Esequiba state, Julio Rojas Velásquez, who began to define the organizational details of the regional chapter.

The director of the entity's Office of Missions and Great Missions, Jessika De León, also participated as part of the work that promotes the Book and Reading Platform of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture (MPPC).

The holding of FILVEN in Guyana Esequiba represents a reaffirmation of the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela over this region, historically in dispute with Guyana. This territorial entity was created by popular mandate after the 2023 consultative referendum, and in May of this year it elected its first governor, Neil Villamizar, who has reiterated that “the objective is clear: to recover our historic rights in honor of Bolivar and our Homeland”.

FILVEN 2025 will pay tribute to five emblematic figures of Venezuelan literature: Judith Valencia, Gonzalo Fragui, Esteban Emilio Mosonyi, Marc de Civrieux and Juan Calzadilla, under the motto “Reading Humanizes”.
