Supreme Court declares constitutional Decree of Economic Emergency issued by the President in Charge

This Friday, April 17, the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) declared as constitutional the Decree of the State of Economic Emergency issued by the president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez.

By decision No. 0515, dated April 16, 2026, the highest court determined the constitutionality of Decree 5.314. The measure establishes a State of Emergency throughout the national territory for a period of 60 days, in accordance with the current legal system.

With this declaration of constitutionality, the National Executive is empowered to carry out extraordinary actions in fiscal, exchange, tax and economic regulation matters for the next 60 days.

The Supreme Court ordered the full publication of the judgment in the Official Gazette and its dissemination on the electronic channels of the Judiciary.
