Aarón Montezuma won four gold and one silver at the Pan American Games for Deaf Youth

Venezuelan swimmer Aarón Montezuma excelled in the VI Youth Pan-American Games for Deaf Youth in Guayaquil 2026, which take place from August 21 to 27, winning four gold and one silver.

Montezuma became champion in the 100-meter freestyle, with a record of 59.82 seconds; in the 200-meter freestyle, with a time of 2:16.30; in the 50-meter butterfly, when the stopwatch stopped at 29.19 seconds; and in the 100-meter butterfly, with a mark of 1:05.73.

In addition, the athlete won a silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle, a test in which he recorded 27.16 seconds, thus completing an outstanding Pan-American performance, according to the press release of the Ministry of People's Power for Sport.

“I am very happy to once again represent my country at the international level. This time I managed to climb to the top of the podium four times. I was able to attend because I live here in Ecuador and we were able to represent the country,” said Montezuma.

The Venezuelan also explained that his participation was the result of a preparation process that began after his experience at the Tokyo 2025 Deaf-Olympic Games, maintaining the focus and discipline to arrive in the best conditions for this new competition.

“After the Tokyo Deaf Olympic Games, I continued my preparation for this event and, thank God, it went very well,” said the athlete.

With his four gold medals and one silver medal, the son of the award-winning Paralympic athlete Belkis Mota, who represented the country in five Paralympic Games, demonstrated that circumstances are no impediment to proudly defending the national colors.
