The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, reported that the Legislative Branch formally received communications of resignation from the heads of the Citizens' Power: the Attorney General and the Ombudsman.

The announcement was made during the regular session held this Wednesday, February 25, at the Federal Legislative Palace, where he specified that in the absence of figures who could assume the vacancies immediately, the AN appointed Larry Devoe as attorney general in charge of the Republic.

He also noted that the Plenary appointed Tarek William Saab as Ombudsman in charge of the Republic.

In this context, Rodríguez activated the Preliminary Committee for the Evaluation of Applications to select the authorities of the Citizen Power.

In this regard, he specified that the parliamentary body will be chaired by the deputy Giuseppe Alessandrello, who will coordinate the work of this multidisciplinary team composed of parliamentarians of various political tendencies, to ensure compliance with legal deadlines.

The committee was made up of the following deputies: Rodbexa Poleo, Carolina García and Gloria Castillo and the deputies Willys Medina, Carlos Mogollón, Roy Daza, José Villarroel, Pablo Pérez, Bernabé Gutiérrez, Julio Hernández, Antonio Ecarri and Luis Romero.


He stressed that the deputies will carry out the process of renewing the heads of the aforementioned branch of the Venezuelan State, with the objective of guaranteeing the administrative continuity and institutionality of these bodies, the Legislative Power will initiate the corresponding protocols for the renewal of the authorities.
