(EL NACIONAL, June 20, 1974)

  • Attorney Aguilar Serradas, an official of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR), who was in charge of the investigation into the “Military Scrap” case, after submitting reports about it, he was murdered in the suitcase of a car on the Tinaquillo—San Carlos highway in Cojedes state.
  • The crime was committed by officials from the Military Intelligence Directorate (DIM), identified as José Antonio Guédez, Jesús Ramón García and Rafael Emilio Pacheco.
  • The truth is that while in office in the Administrative Investigations Department of the CGR, Aguilar Serradas received several death threats, to keep this matter quiet.
  • Aguilar Serradas was arrested on June 18, 1974 and transferred to the basements of the Military Intelligence Directorate (DIM), where he was subjected to severe torture and physical abuse that caused his death.
  • Omar Mezza Mora, leader of the Movement for Socialism (MAS), and José Vicente Rangel, a member of the Congress of the Republic, submitted complaints to the chambers of parliament about the atrocities committed against the murdered lawyer.
  • However, both complainants received as their only response the same death threats they made to lawyer Aguilar Serradas.
  • During his university career, Aguilar Serradas was the leader of the Student Center of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) and at the time of his death he was a member of the Movement for Socialism (MAS).
  • For their part, President Carlos Andrés Pérez (CAP) and the Military Intelligence Directorate (DIM) presented a report whose details are similar to what happened with the leader of the Socialist League, Jorge Rodríguez Sr.; that is, the unfortunate Aguilar Serradas died a natural death, although another version of the government of CAP established that he had committed suicide in the cells of the DIM.
