During the Anti-Imperialist Tribune held in Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, vice-president of Regional and Municipal Affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), led a day of popular mobilization in support of constitutional president Nicolás Maduro.

Meléndez highlighted the active participation of social movements in different circuits of the city, through pronouncements, cultural activities and rallies. He noted that the population remains alert to any attempt at external aggression, and emphasized the role of social, state, military and police intelligence in the defense of sovereignty.

“Popular mobilization has been key to neutralizing actions that seek to destabilize the country. Venezuela has carried out seven electoral processes in the last year, totaling 33 constitutional elections since the beginning of the revolution,” he said.

For their part, representatives of the women's vice-presidency of the PSUV issued a statement in which they rejected the actions of the United States government against the Venezuelan head of state and condemned attempts to generate violent acts in the country, allegedly financed by sectors linked to the extreme right.

The document supports the actions of the national government, which allowed the arrest of 15 people linked to a plan to carry out an explosive attack on Plaza Venezuela. Women called for vigilance and strengthening civic-military-police unity to consolidate political stability, independence and national sovereignty.

“The women's movement will continue to work for peace, social justice and the defense of the model of inclusion that guarantees rights for future generations,” the statement concludes.
