The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of
Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, received this Friday at the Miraflores Palace, the President of the Republic of Colombia,
Gustavo Petro, who is in Caracas to strengthen relations of cooperation and brotherhood between the two nations.
The official meeting aims to strengthen mutual cooperation
alliances in trade, energy, politics and
security between the two nations.
This represents the first official
meeting of the Venezuelan president in charge with a head of state
since she took office on January 5, after the kidnapping of President
Nicolás Maduro in a U.S. military incursion on January 3. In addition,
it is Petro's sixth visit to the neighboring country since August 2022, and the first
since April 2024, marking a turning point in bilateral relations.
This dialogue is the result of the 3rd Meeting of the Binational Neighborhood and Integration
Commission, held on the 23rd and 23rd at the
Casa Amarilla, where 11 working groups were activated that address
strategic areas such as: security and defense, trade and industry, energy and
hydrocarbons, health and environmental issues and energy sovereignty.
