Anzoátegui dresses up and hosts the 2026 World Baseball Classic Cup

In an atmosphere of joy and sporting fervor, the regional authorities, athletes and the people of the state of Anzoátegui officially welcomed the 2026 World Baseball Classic trophy, an award that enshrines Venezuela as the current monarch of the discipline after its historic victory against the United States.

The eastern entity became the seventh official stop of the so-called “Victory Tour”, an initiative promoted by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, who seeks to share the victory of the national team with all corners of the country.

A journey full of national pride

The trophy arrived in Anzoatigua from the state of Sucre and was received with honors at the El Cumbre toll booth in the Guanta municipality.

From there, a caravan accompanied the cup on an emblematic route that covered the cities of Puerto La Cruz and Barcelona, allowing fans and young athletes to witness the symbol of Venezuelan baseball success.

The governor of the state of Anzoátegui, Luis Marcano, led the welcome ceremony together with the mayors of the municipalities of Bolívar, Sugey Herrera, and Guanta, Yinder Saldivia.

“Today we are happy to receive this cup, which symbolizes the pride of the nation. These heroes represented us in the World Classic, were crowned champions and are the motivation of the entire Venezuelan family,” said the regional president with enthusiasm during the event.

Historic milestone for Venezuelan sports

The Venezuelan national team achieved glory on March 17 in Miami, where in a heart-rending final they defeated the United States national team with a score of 3-2.

This triumph not only represents a milestone in the country's sporting history, but it has become an engine of inspiration for the new generations of players who live in minor baseball schools in the region.

The passage of the cup through Anzoátegui reinforces the authorities' commitment to the promotion of sport and the celebration of the values of identity and perseverance that the champion team embodies.
