This Tuesday, February 24, the president of the Special Monitoring Commission of the National Assembly for the Law of Amnesty and Democratic Coexistence, Jorge Arreaza, reported that more than 300 emails have been received about cases for the application of this instrument.

“Until yesterday, we had received 352 emails, with 352 cases; some that are multiple, it could be a case where there are several defendants, and some email that has several cases, so we are processing that data,” he said from the Federal Legislative Palace in Caracas.

He recalled that the email to receive the cases is: [email protected]. At the same time, he emphasized that they have also received cases from the Program for Peace and Coexistence.

He also highlighted the work they are doing in responding to each of the requests. “The pace that is taking place is extraordinary; however, if that pace were to slow down, we are there to communicate with the Powers so that we can correct the entire process,” he said, noting that they are closely monitoring each case.

He reiterated that there are already subcommissions for special cases, for labor cases and for cases binding to the Amnesty Act . “We are in permanent session,” he said and thanked the 23 deputies who have been working on a permanent basis.

“This Law achieves consensus after hours and hours of debate and discussion in the committee (...) because we have profound differences, but on top of those differences (...) we place the People, the Republic, the peace of the country and national sovereignty,” he said.
