The rector of the National University of the Commune (UNACOM), Jorge Arreaza, pointed out that the institution's teaching staff and specialists are responsible for modifying the territorial environment through academic training and technical support to grassroots organizations.
During a meeting with the university community, the official stressed that the knowledge imparted must be translated into tangible changes for the Venezuelan communal system.
Arreaza emphasized that the work of teachers transcends the classroom, positioning Unacom as an articulating axis between sociopolitical theory and the execution of local projects. According to the rector, the institution seeks to consolidate an educational model that responds to the needs of the Community and Commune Councils, providing tools for self-management and productive development.
In its intervention, the university authority specified that the university's curriculum is designed on the premise of praxis. Specialists must orient their research and professorships towards solving specific problems identified by the inhabitants of the territories, ensuring that higher education serves as an engine for strengthening Popular Power.
The institutional strategy contemplates the mobilization of academic cadres to the regions, in order to sign training agreements that integrate students into the economic and social dynamics of their communities. Arreaza reiterated that the goal is to move from a traditional educational system to one that prioritizes the construction of sovereignty from the local level.
Finally, the rector called on the teaching staff to keep up to date constantly on communal legislation and participatory planning methodologies, ensuring that the university fulfills its technical support role in the design of territorial public policies.
