A contingent of more than 900 risk management personnel remain deployed throughout Monagas state to monitor the impact of rainfall, the regional secretary for Prevention and Public Safety, Eduardo Almérida Padrón, reported this Thursday, July 23.

From the headquarters of the Monagas State Police Force (CPEM), during a meeting, which was attended by the Civil Protection (PC) and Fire Department directives, Almérida explained that the Monagas Task Forces (GRUTAMO) are fully equipped and on constant alert to the traffic of the 29 tropical waves that have crossed the area.

He specified that, so far, the rains have not caused significant damage to the geography of Monagua and that the preventive sanitation work carried out by the administration of the Maturín Mayor's Office, which allowed the cleaning of 52 pipes distributed in six parishes in the capital municipality.

He also urged the population to keep informed exclusively by official means and to report any eventuality through the 911 emergency line or directly to police and rescue agencies.

He also called on public awareness to prevent the throwing of waste in streams and waterways, a fundamental action to prevent obstructions and overflows.
