The Ministry of Popular Power for Health, through the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), maintains a permanent deployment of vaccination against yellow fever in the various municipalities of the state of Apure.
The PAI coordinator in the region, Franyer Báez, reported that, although the entity does not register confirmed cases, preventive measures have been deployed in response to the report of outbreaks in the states of Barinas, Lara, Aragua and Portuguesa. The campaign is primarily aimed at citizens between 1 and 59 years old.
In this regard, he indicated that the technical strategy in the region guarantees the presence of vaccinators in each community, with care even during night hours. “We have more than 104 active vaccination stations deployed throughout our territory with vaccinators tomorrow, afternoon and night in different plans seeking and carrying out prevention in each of our homes.”
He also specified that, given the strategic location of the entity, access points have been reinforced to attract people who have not been vaccinated. “We have established health checkpoints and health bridges in the Páez municipality and in the Pedro Camejo municipality, since there we have entry doors for visitors; we can treat them with this disease.”
Baez emphasized that the fight against mosquitoes also depends on citizen support in their homes. “We want each of our inhabitants to become aware and that those nurseries that we have in our homes, those pots that are uncovered, they can do prevention. It's time to get the dose of yellow fever that protects you for life.”
