The Sectorial Vice Presidency of Public Works and Services, with the support of the National Electric Corporation (CORPOELEC) and the Ministry of Power to Popular for Electric Energy, have managed to recover 96% of electricity service in the state of La Guaira after the earthquake of last June 24.

The information was released by the vice-president of the Public Works Sector, Juan José Ramírez, during a tour of the state of La Guaira in which he pointed out that thanks to the work, priority circuits such as hospitals, health centers and temporary camps have been energized. “The general population is benefiting from the restoration of public service,” he said.

Ramírez explained that this double earthquake of June 24 caused a significant impact on the electricity system at the national level, not only in La Guaira. “There was an impact on 10 towers at the Yaracuy Center Plant that caused 600 megawatts to be discharged from the National Electricity System,” he said.

He indicated that they are currently working on three fundamental pillars: Incorporation of Termo Zulia 1 that would provide 150 megawatts more for that state, a machine at the San Agatón Hydroelectric Power Plant in Táchira with 150 megawatts for the region of Los Andes and the incorporation of a machine in the Thermocarabobo Thermoelectric Plant that will provide 150 megawatts in the central region.

He asserted that these megawatts will make it possible to continue improving the National Electric Service.
