Businesses in La Guaira achieve 90% reactivation in less affected areas

90% of the commercial establishments located in the areas with the lowest seismic impact have reopened their doors in La Guaira, bringing the global operation of the sector in the entity to 56%, according to the official balance sheet that considers the seven thousand businesses active before the earthquake.

Governor Alejandro Terán specified that the initial commercial census counts 1,752 standing premises, while for those that were damaged but still have the possibility of recovery, the Regional Executive established a financing mechanism with public and private banks, aimed at replenishing inventories and repairing equipment.

Terán announced that his firm will keep a register of entrepreneurs staying in temporary shelters, itinerant camps and disadvantaged sectors, in order to channel credit resources to them together with the economic vice-president, Anabel Pereira.

In terms of tourism, the governor revealed that they are holding talks with more than four thousand suppliers, grouped into three federations, to prepare a damage diagnosis and structure a temporary employment plan to rehabilitate spas and restore the flow of visitors in the short term, subject to current international anti-seismic construction requirements.
