The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, said that after the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez, “the political equation changed.”

In his Con El Mazo Dando program number 564, he stated that “those who forget about the people, today, after winning an election and remember five years later when there are elections again are probably not doing things the way they are. Maybe 30 years ago that worked for him, because that's the way the politics were here, but Chávez changed everything.”

In that sense, he pointed out that “if today they do that and they present themselves every five years, they will not choose it, they will not even propose it because the previous equation of power was different”.

“Before they said we are going to bring power closer to the people, historically that was said (...) there was talk of decentralization. The people don't want to be brought closer to power, the people want to have power handed over to them!” , he ruled.
