The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, assured during the March for Peace and Defense in Trujillo that the Bolivarian Revolution works for the welfare of the children of the Fatherland.
In his speech, he recounted the encounter with a ten-year-old boy, named Gleiver, who embraced him during the mobilization.
“Embracing the Fatherland, because this child gave me a hug (...) I felt that embrace of the Fatherland (...). We are here for these children, for them. What moves us is to give them a free, sovereign and independent Homeland. What's it going to cost? Yes, but we are going to give it to them,” he emphasized.
He stated that the Bolivarian Revolution works so that “children like Gleiver and girls his age, the youngest, are happy and have a peaceful homeland.”
He recalled that Bolívar fought against the powers of his time and triumphed despite adversities, and that that same spirit inspired Commander Hugo Chávez and the young people of February 4, 1992 to support the People who had already risen up on February 27 and 28, 1989.
“We went out to give up the only thing we had: our own skin. And we have been through hard years so that they have a homeland, so that they feel proud of what has been built,” he said.
The general secretary of the PSUV stressed that it is in the street that the true meaning of the revolutionary struggle can be found. “If I were in an office I would never have met Gleiber, so the invitation of the entire leadership of the Bolivarian Revolution is on the street, with the people. Chavism is on the street.”
He also criticized those who “are mired in the madness of hate”, assuring that the Revolution will remain firm in its conviction of peace, work and collective construction. “Don't let their butt go up (to the opposition), because we're going to do like Florentino with the devil, we'll lower it immediately,” he said.
He stressed that the task of the Revolution is to continue to unite and build, and noted that Trujillo stands out as one of the most prosperous states in the country, especially in agriculture and commerce, but above all because of the dignity of its people.
“Trujillo has an honest people, good women and men,” he said.
