Diosdado Cabello, first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) criticized that the opponents who attended the procession of the Divine Shepherdess in Lara last Sunday seemed to want to “compete with the Virgin”.

“People who applauded when they burned human beings alive, were now praying (...). Our Lady works miracles, doesn't she? They went to the procession with their faces very washed, as if they didn't ask for violence in this country, as if they didn't promote deaths in this country, they go and pray. They think this country is made of idiots! The people saw them and it didn't stop them,” he said on his show Con El Mazo Dando.

He specified that “these are the miracles that the Virgin performs and that is that the People saw them and did not attend to them. They want to compete and be more popular than Our Lady, they believe that people went to see them and not Our Lady. Hopefully they will truly become good Christians and good Christians.”
