Thanks to the work of the
Bolivarian Government through the mayor of Caracas, A/J Carmen Meléndez, the
Ministry of Popular Power for Culture and Petroleum of Venezuela (PDVSA),
accompanied by the community, the Simón Romero Madriz Public Library was reopened in the Catia parish, in Caracas.
In this regard, the director of the
Metropolitan Network of Public Libraries, Etily Gómez, pointed out that “the
library has larger spaces, equipped with television,
computer, internet and telephone. With a space with a kitchen, microwave,
refrigerator, drinking water and ventilation, for a better quality of life for
workers.”
For her part, the head of the
institution, Damaris Bueno, recalled that this space was created within the Endogenous
Nucleus Fabricio Ojeda (2004), on instructions from Commander Hugo Chávez Frías.
“The spaces were taken, occupied by an old PDVSA gas station, construction began with the participation of community cooperatives, and then, over the next few years, different entities were established for communal service, including the public library (2006),” he said.
