The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, rejected this Monday the “biased narrative” of the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, towards the Latin American nation.

Through his Telegram channel, Gil criticized that Türk insists on repeating “unfounded accusations, deliberately omitting the impact of unilateral coercive measures on the rights of the Venezuelan people.”

In this regard, he pointed out that the high commissioner “definitely has a hard time getting rid of the agenda of extremism in Venezuela. On the contrary, and despite the serious violations of human rights on the planet, he opts for his immoral bias against Venezuela.”

The Venezuelan diplomat indicated that this attitude makes it difficult for the Bolivarian country to maintain serious technical cooperation, since the office of the high commissioner “ends up acting as a sounding board for falsehoods. In Venezuela, the path is peace and coexistence; those who want to contribute with respect will be welcome,” he stressed.
