The National Electoral Council (CNE) released this Wednesday the regulations that will govern the campaign of the candidates who will be measured in the presidential election on July 28.

The regulations are included in Electoral Gazette number 1061, which contains Resolution No. 240703-055, specifying that the electoral campaign period begins at 6 in the morning of this Thursday and will end at 12 in the evening of Thursday, July 25.

In the said document, content that violates “the honor, private life, privacy, self-image, confidentiality and reputation of individuals” is specified as prohibited propaganda. Likewise, the one that seeks to create conditions contrary to the promotion and guarantee of the recognition of diversity, tolerance and mutual respect.

Messages that promote war, discrimination, intolerance and disobedience to laws are also prohibited.

With regard to funding, electoral propaganda carried out with funds of foreign origin, that is financed with public funds other than those provided for in these regulations, as well as that financed with private funds not declared to the National Electoral Council and the National Integrated Service for Customs and Tax Administration (SENIAT), are prohibited.

It should be noted that the CNE is a great promoter of voting in the country, which is why it has created a series of technical and logistical conditions that guarantee the transparency of the different electoral processes.

The voting process in Venezuela, as in few countries on the planet, is completely automated; it goes from the process of biometric verification of voters, to verify their identity, to the issuance of the vote.

Another element that distinguishes the Venezuelan electoral process is that it is 100% auditable. The entire process, the voting machines and the voter registration are audited, before, during and after the electoral process to give participating political actors confidence that the results obtained are true.
