Colombia goes to the semifinals of the Copa América after beating Panama 5-0

After beating Panama 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the Copa América this Saturday, the Colombian soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the competition being held in the United States.

James Rodríguez scored one goal and two assists, in a game played at the State Farm stadium in Glendale, Arizona, in which the New Granada team dominated from start to finish at the pace of their captain.

The team led by Argentinian Néstor Lorenzo opened the scoring after eight minutes with a header from John Córdoba after a corner kick from James Rodríguez.

Eight minutes later, Rodriguez scored the second goal on a penalty after a foul by goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera against John Arias.

Colombia's third goal came in the 41st minute with Luis Díaz scoring above the goalkeeper, after a perfect assist from Rodríguez, and then scored in the 70th minute with a long-distance shot by Richard Ríos and completed the win at 94 with a penalty scored by Miguel Borja. The semifinal will be played on Wednesday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
