Colombia will host the X Summit of Heads of Government of CELAC

Colombia, in its capacity as Pro Tempore Presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), will host next Saturday, March 21 in Bogotá, the X Summit of Heads of State and Government of the mechanism, within the framework of the CELAC-Africa High-Level Forum, reported the website of the Colombian Foreign Ministry.
During the summit, Colombia will transfer the Pro Tempore Presidency to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.
In addition, the adoption of the Bogotá Declaration is expected, a document in which member States will recognize the advances of the last year in terms of regional integration, cooperation, promotion of peace and strengthening of multilateralism in Latin America and the Caribbean, in addition to defining the priorities that will guide the work of the mechanism in the coming period.
Prior to the presidential meeting, the country's capital will be the scene of several preparatory meetings aimed at consolidating consensus among member States.
The XXIX Meeting of National Coordinators of CELAC will be held on March 16, 17 and 18 in the Bolivar Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Subsequently, on March 20, at the Ágora Bogotá Convention Center, the Meeting of National Coordinators of CELAC will be held with representatives of African countries, followed by the Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of CELAC, meetings that will allow us to refine the agreements and proposals that will be presented for consideration by the heads of State and Government.
Colombia assumed the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States on April 9, 2025, during the Tegucigalpa Summit of CELAC, and since then it has promoted an agenda aimed at strengthening this mechanism of regional political consultation, with initiatives in sustainable development, social justice, regional cooperation and the revitalization of multilateralism.
The X CELAC Summit in Bogotá will also seek to consolidate a regional voice that talks with the world through unity and cooperation, in a global context in which multilateralism is key to facing common challenges.
