The National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) is closely following the repair process of the submarine cable operated by Cirion Technologies, which is a crucial step towards the definitive restoration of connectivity in the country after seismic events.

Thanks to coordinated action between CONATEL, the Venezuelan State, competent authorities and private companies, the restoration work carried out on the high seas by the specialized vessel Wave Sentine l, successfully completed the fusion of the southern end of the optical fiber, details a newsletter from the institution.

This was possible thanks to the implementation of laser technology to align and join optical fiber filaments, under strict micrometric parameters.

Simultaneously, the technical team recovered and raised the north end of the cable to cover, ready to immediately begin the next round of mergers.

Close inspection of the cable showed that it maintains the original design conditions outside the point of the cut.

This guarantees that, at the end of the full integration of the sections, the network will operate under the rigorous optical and performance standards for which it was designed, shielding data traffic and international communications in Venezuela.

With the southern segment already sheltered on the seabed and the work on the northern end in full execution by Cirion Technologies engineers, the operation is entering its final stretch.

The subsequent phase will include the definitive link test and the synchronization of both sections, an imperative step to fully restore the optimal levels of international capacity required by the country's digital ecosystem.
