ConseComercio and ProColombia strengthen business integration

Authorities from the National Council for Commerce and Services (CONSECOMERCIO) and ProColombia met to draw up a joint agenda and promote binational commercial and productive exchange

The meeting was led by the president of CONSECOMERCIO, José Gregorio Rodríguez, together with the organization's executive director, Josefina Salvatierra, who held an institutional meeting with the director of ProColombia in Venezuela, Carlos Luna, with the purpose of strengthening business integration and boosting the economic relationship between the two nations.

During the meeting, the union leader thanked the Colombian government for its solidarity after the earthquake that occurred on June 24 in the country, while expressing Venezuela's fraternal support in the face of recent seismic events in the neighboring nation, highlighting synergy and mutual cooperation, CONSECOMERCIO reports on his Instagram account.

Among the key axes that were addressed are:

  • Route map and integration: Definition of a strategic work plan to energize commercial exchange, balance the trade balance and identify the Venezuelan exportable supply to the Colombian market.
  • Strategic productive sectors: ProColombia addressed opportunities in retail, industry 4.0, footwear, agriculture, chemistry, construction materials; packaging and plastics. CONSECOMERCIO also planned opening up to areas such as agroforestry, petrochemistry and nanotechnology.
  • Connectivity and tourism: Promotion of tourism as an engine of the trade and services sector. Concommerce aimed at creating a project for the opening of new direct air routes between cities in both countries and the optimization of migration policies.
  • Trade union and institutional alliances: Proposal of joint working groups with key unions such as Conindustria, Conseturismo, Fenalco and Colombian unions to articulate regional integration.
  • Regional development and training: Initiatives to strengthen the commercial fabric in La Guaira through the Fortaleza La Guaira project: life and production, in partnership with INCES.
