The Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Freddy Ñáñez, reported the attention of a cunaguaro who was hit last Friday on the Barquisimeto-Sarare highway, Los Mangos sector of Lara state.

On his social networks, Ñáñez explained that the rapid action of the entity's Fire Department allowed emergency care for the feline, which was stabilized and transferred to the Bararida Zoological and Botanical Park, where he “recovers favorably under the care of specialists”, in an adequate and protected environment.

The official warned that deforestation and burning in the mountainous areas of Lara are displacing species such as the cunaguaro from their natural habitat. He explained that, being threatened by fire and without shelter, these animals are forced to move to the roads, exposing themselves to dangers such as being run over, so he called for the protection of biodiversity as a shared responsibility.

“From the Ministry of Ecosocialism, we promote conservation policies to stop the destruction of biological corridors and guarantee ecological balance in our homeland,” he stressed.
