The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, highlighted this Saturday the spiritual meaning of the traditional Bajada de la Virgen de Chiquinquirá, stating that this holiday renews the faith, love and hope of Venezuelans.

Through a message published on her Telegram channel, the president expressed her commitment to the festivities of the Zulian people and the Marian devotees throughout the country. “Today I join the joy and devotion of the Zulian people and of all Venezuelans who celebrate this beautiful tradition. We raise our prayers for the peace, health and unity of our families,” said the head of state.

In her message, the president entrusted the nation to the protection of the patron saint of Zulia. “May La Chinita protect Venezuela and always accompany us on paths of faith and hope!” , concluded.

The Bajada de la Virgen del Rosario de Chiquinquirá is one of the religious and cultural events most deeply rooted in the identity of the people of Zulia. Every year, this event symbolizes the reunion of the parishioners with their patron saint and formally marks the beginning of the patron saint festivities, consolidating itself as a fundamental expression of faith, social cohesion and folkloric tradition in the western region of the country. For this edition, about 30,000 people are expected to attend the square of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Chiquinquirá, in Maracaibo, where the relic descends from the main altar to meet its faithful.
