The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that this Tuesday she held a conversation with the director general of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, to allow the country to access its special drawing rights.

“We have 5 billion dollars in the International Monetary Fund so that we can recover vital infrastructure, electricity, water (...) We know what to do with those resources. If I explain it to you, Venezuela knows what to do responsibly with its blocked resources, not only in the Monetary Fund,” he said from Falcón state, during a meeting with social and political sectors, within the framework of the Great National Pilgrimage for a Venezuela without Sanctions and in Peace.

He recalled that the country has resources blocked in other countries, such as gold in the United Kingdom, and stressed that IMF resources will serve to guarantee macroeconomic stability, for the stability of the currency and the exchange system, as well as to recover the income of workers and women workers.

“It's the responsible way, I explained to him well how Venezuela wants to make use of those resources. So this battle is diplomatic, we can never give up,” he emphasized.
