The President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, installed this Thursday the National Commission for the Grand Consultation on Criminal Justice, an instance that will conduct this process throughout the country to collect proposals on the reform of the Venezuelan criminal system.

Rodríguez said that the consultation responds to a sustained demand from the population: “We are going to consult Venezuelans and Venezuelan women on criminal justice reform. It is a request from the People of Venezuela. Everything related to access to justice must be timely, without differentiation and with impartiality.” He pointed out that progress has been made, but that “the debt is already undelayable and we have to deal with it.”

During the installation, the president in charge thanked the commission for being formed and recalled that there is already a technical team working on Penal Reform. He indicated that the objective is to unify criteria, expand citizen participation and order a national consultation process that allows us to collect diagnoses and proposals.

The National Commission for the Grand Consultation on Criminal Justice will begin a work schedule in the coming days, with participation mechanisms throughout the national territory.
