Direct flights between Margarita Island and Colombia will begin on June 27 to strengthen tourist activity in the state of Nueva Esparta, operations that will be carried out by the airline Wingo.

The routes will link the cities of Bogotá and Medellín with Santiago Mariño International Airport. The president of the Nueva Esparta Tourism Chamber, Antonio de Abreu, explained that this first phase will continue until July 27 to stimulate the flow of travelers, reported the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).

In addition, De Abreu announced that the program will be expanded starting in September with the addition of 27 direct flights from Cali, which will strengthen the presence of Colombian tourists in the island region.

“This is something very important, because this is the beginning of direct international flights to Margarita Island... What marks is the beginning of the great work that we are doing together between all the chambers, the Government, all the institutions, the Ministry of Tourism, so that Margarita continues to shine as we all want,” he explained.

The union leader pointed out that authorities and institutions in the sector are making progress in new alliances to attract visitors from other international markets and expand opportunities for tourism development.
