Gustavo Dudamel and the Venezuelan National Youth Symphony will perform in Barcelona on July 7, as part of the BCN Clàssics festival, the organization said in a statement this Tuesday.

The concert is part of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela, known as the Simon Bolivar Musical Foundation, founded in 1975, according to a note from Radio Miraflores.

During the event, Dmitri Shostakovich's “Leningrad Symphony”, a work created during the Second World War, will be presented.

The Venezuelan National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs has achieved international projection as a model of musical training and social transformation for young people and children.

The festival organization emphasized that Dudamel maintains a close relationship with El Sistema, and that he has directed several different groups formed under this program on numerous occasions, which underlines the relevance of his participation in the Barcelona anniversary.
