As part of the actions being carried out by the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to make efficient use of electrical energy, the Energy Savings Plan was activated in the country's shopping centers.

This was reported by the sectoral vice-president of Public Works and Services, Juan José Ramírez, at the end of a working group with authorities from the Venezuelan Chamber of Shopping Centers (Cavececo), a meeting that allowed us to draw strategic lines that contribute to reducing electricity consumption in these spaces.

“We have reached good agreements regarding the rational use of the electrical service, self-generation systems and the air conditioning area, establishing operational measures,” Ramírez said.

He also explained that during peak demand times, it seeks to reduce the consumption generated through these electromechanical equipment, which are connected to the National Electricity System and which affect demand.

For her part, the executive director of Cavececo, Claudia Itriago, described the working table as positive, “because we talked and reached agreements on many practices that have already been applied in shopping centers”.

In the same way, he specified that the institution he represents will start an awareness campaign to save energy.

He explained that some measures that will soon be applied are the turning on and off of vertical transport (escalators and elevators) at certain times, as well as those shopping centers that can self-generate energy at certain times will do so, in order to reduce the impact on consumption.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Popular Power for Electric Energy, Rolando Alcalá; the Minister of Popular Power for Public Works and Sectorial Vice President of Public Works and Services, Juan José Ramírez; the Minister of Popular Power for Industries and National Commerce, representatives of the Venezuelan Chamber of Shopping Centers, among other authorities.

On March 21, in a meeting with authorities that make up the country's electricity sector, the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, urged the Venezuelan population to move forward with an energy savings plan that would help mitigate the effects of rising temperatures, a consequence of atypical climatic phenomena affecting the country.
