The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, stated that the Organization of American States (OAS) “lacks any competence to rule on the internal affairs of Venezuela, a country that is not part of that body.”
This assessment was made in connection with a publication made on the social network X, by the Secretary General of this organization, Albert R. Ramdin, where he stated that “the Venezuelan authorities must ensure that the processes for appointing the Attorney General of the Republic and the Ombudsman meet the minimum standards of transparency (...)”.
In that sense, from his Telegram user, he added that “it is, therefore, profoundly dissonant that an official of that instance intends to give an opinion on processes that correspond exclusively to the Venezuelan people and their constitutional order.”
He added that “it is surprising that the current Secretary General intends today to invoke the disastrous legacy of his predecessor Luis Almagro. Venezuela will continue its course of self-determination, the inalienable right of its people.”
