The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, received this Monday the style copies of the new Portuguese ambassador in Caracas, Manuel Frederico Pinheiro da Silva.

The protocol ceremony was held at the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre, where the Venezuelan Foreign Minister officially welcomed the Portuguese diplomat, to whom he wished him “a successful day”.

Through his Telegram channel, Gil stressed that “this act marks the beginning of a new phase in our diplomatic relations, framed in the Diplomacy of Peace of the Bolivarian Government with the objective of strengthening ties of friendship, cooperation and solidarity with all the peoples of the world.”

The two nations have maintained historic diplomatic relations, since 1914, with at least half a million Portuguese citizens living in Venezuela.
