FUNVISIS installs accelerographic station in San Cristóbal

The Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (FUNVISIS) installed an accelerographic station in San Cristóbal, Táchira state, to record earthquakes of strong and moderate magnitude.

Through a press release, FUNVISIS details that “we continue to work with scientific and technical rigor to strengthen seismological research and the culture of prevention in every corner of the country, at a time when constant monitoring is vital for the safety of the population”.

With the activation of this station, the system seeks to obtain accurate and immediate seismological data and to strengthen the National Accelerographic Network (REDAC). An accelerograph is an instrument for measuring, recording and analyzing ground acceleration.
