The Government of the Capital District began work in the Cotiza sector to address a collapse of the main road in the San José sector, which compromises the safety of the inhabitants and the mobility of the area.

The head of government of Caracas, Nahum Fernández, was deployed in the area to oversee the start of the works.

The emergency situation was generated by the impact of the Dique and Caraballo streams, whose underground flow weakened the road structure and caused significant subsidence.

As reported by the community representative, María Matilde Liendo, the phenomenon puts some 50 nearby homes at risk and interrupted traffic on the main avenue, affecting hundreds of families in the sector.

“The water from the streams undermined the base of the area, compromising houses and traffic. This would be aggravated by the rains if we don't act quickly,” said Liendo.

In response, the Community Council and parish leaders established a preventive fence to prevent the traffic of vehicles, while repair work is being carried out.

Local authorities submitted the technical report to the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, who immediately approved the necessary resources to address the problem.

The works include: Demolition of 100 linear meters of the affected road.

Exploration of undermined terrain to identify all critical points.

Construction of a new reinforced concrete plate.

Packing and stabilization of the area from the upper to the lower part of the ravine.

This intervention, which is coordinated with the community council and the parish leadership, seeks not only to solve the current problem, but also to prevent future collapses in infrastructure.
